One Year Later...

We have officially passed our one year mark here in Germany. This year has gone by so incredibly fast that we are thinking the next few are going to be even faster. It has been a wonderful blessing to experience Europe and build on our marriage and relationship with Christ. We have been on a roller coaster of emotions and through all the stages of culture shock. (See graph)

I think it was about month 5 (January of this year) that we were finally getting settled. We had our share of hostility and a lot of humor but now we feel at home. We thank God everyday for this opportunity and for the wonderful people he has given us here for support, encouragement, and even traveling companions. As much as our hearts are pulled home to our family, friends, and beautiful Colorado, we are able to enjoy this experience for what it is, a European Adventure!

And because we went one year ago as one of our first adventures (and because banana beer and bratwurst are awesome) we decided to go to the Wittlich Pig Fest last Friday for date night. It was the same as last year only we knew how to order things in German, has some idea where we were at, and we felt more settled and peaceful while walking the old German streets filled with pig-eaters and beer drinkers alike.

And here's to another great year full of adventure, experiences, spiritual growth, and a deeper love and understanding of our God.
