Fast forward 2 years and two 18 month olds and the only gym I had been in was the girls little gymnastics gym. I felt lost as to what to do. All the Crossfit gyms in the states are around $100/month and we just can't legitimize paying that much at this point. Nothing seemed to be working out with my busy schedule and specific exercise preferences.
Most of all, I missed the fellowship of experiencing blood, sweat, and tears with people that I care about and that care about me. The sense of community and belonging I had had was missing. I prayed about it and all the while felt more and more unhealthy as I stalled to decide what to do. I finally broke down one day and told God that I was done trying to do it on my own. God always knows that I get to that point eventually and even though I knew better, I still tried to take control. Once I accepted (once again) that I didn't know what was best for myself and God did, I gave in.
Wouldn't you know, God answered my prayer that night. I went to bible study and explained the situation and one of my friends suggested Tritinty Fitness. They are a nonprofit Christian gym that only accepts donations for payment and follows Crossfit-esque workout routines. I was sold. And still am. And loving it. And so blessed.
Here are the five reasons why I love Trinity Fitness:
1) God is Always First
From pre-workout devos to prayer requests, God is number one. He is the reason we get together and do what we do. Here is a quote from their website explaining exactly what TF is all about:
Though Trinity Fitness is opened to all faiths, denominations, believers and non believers the gym itself is faith focused and Christ centered. This is no ordinary gym, but rather a non profit ministry in which the bottom line is not dollars and cents, but refreshed souls and lives in both kids and adults.2) Sense of Community, Encouragement, and Fellowship
I always feel welcome, encouraged and part of a family. We bond while we suffer together through the battle plans knowing we are doing what is good for our bodies. Along the way we learn to encourage each other, laugh together, and even cry together. I have never felt uncomfortable, unworthy, or out of place.
3) Give what money you can without the awkwardness
Trinity Fitness doesn't have a required fee and don't ask for a minimum donation. The money piece is truly a Christ-led decision that each person makes. Whether it is $20 or $200 a month, it doesn't change the way anyone is treated.
4) I'm pushed to my limit every workout
The trainers are phenonmenal and always push me to my max. If I feel like I have nothing left, I am pushed to give more. This has been such a great lesson in perseverance and God-reliance as I find myself praying through the workouts. Giving each workout to God. Because God is made stronger in my weakness.
5) Accountability
If I don't show up for a while, people notice and ask. This is the number one reason why I get up at 5am every Wednesday. Peer pressure and accountability equals showing up.
I feel so blessed having found a place that matches my pre-pregnancy gym family. It is exactly what I need in my life right now and God knew it. It took me almost 2 years to find that community of gym members that could truly encourage me both inside and out.
I feel very passionate about this ministry and pray that it grows and touches more peoples lives as it has changed mine. The gym is always looking for donations and sponsors so they can reach more people through this ministry.
If you feel led, have prayed, and talked to your spouse or accountability partner I would love your kind donation towards the Trinity Fitness Annual Team Fundraising Challenge. My team is raising funds for our local branch to help support the gym financially. These funds will help with promoting the gym in our community, keep the amazing class schedule going, and to do whatever else God has planned for my local Trinity Fitness gym.
Please go to the website below to give your donation and feel free to come watch me and my teammates as we complete an obstacle course on May 7th at the gym.

P.S. This is not an advertisement for Trinity Fitness nor am I getting paid, am an employee, or was asked by any employee to write this. All of these ideas are my own and this is my true journey with this organization. But your donations are greatly appreciated because my team wants to win. Amen.
