Okay, I had this post written last week but we have been sooo busy that I haven't been able to upload the pictures and post it! We moved into our place on Monday, got our stuff Tuesday, and I unpacked all day yesterday. We won't have internet at the house for a while but I'll try to keep posting!
We're here I promise! We just took a long weekend and did not get back until Tuesday. Nothing like a 4 day weekend to help reduce the stress of moving next week! This past weekend we went to Baden Baden, Germany. We heard about Baden-Baden (BB) from a coworker of James in the states. He told us about it and we immediately wanted to go. It was at the top of our Europe travel bucket list and it was even more amazing than I expected! BB is a wonderful city filled with architecture, history, great food, and the 2 amazing baths. Baden is a German word for "Swim" and man did we swim!
We arrived ready to relax, checked into our beautiful hotel, and parked our car the entire weekend. What I love about Europe is that most major cities have everything in close walking distance. Restaurants, sites, entertainment, and hotels all within a 10 minute walk. I think it has something to do with the fact that when the cities were built up there was only your own two feet and horses for transportation. We spent our first day doing half of our walking tour of the city and strolling down the luscious and magical Lichtentaller Allee. There is a fancy casino that you have to wear a suit and tie to but we found the "non-rich" area with penny slots and jeans were okay. We ate some of the best food I've ever had and called it a night. Sunday we spent the morning at the relaxing and historical Friedrichsbad. We sat in the mineral pools that come straight out of a Roman-times movie, heated up in the saunas, and got soap brush massages. Monday we spent at the less quaint but more diverse Caracalla Therme. It consists of a bunch of huge mineral pools, steam rooms, saunas, cold pools, and even HOT HOT outdoor cabins that are over 200 degrees F!! We ended our weekend with another amazing meal and finished our tour of the city. I have never been more relaxed in my life. The best part was that I felt like I was Roman royalty enjoying a leisurely weekend in Baden Baden!
