Back Eurotrip Chapter 3: Venezia

After almost a week of German rainy weather, we were looking forward to "driving into the sun." The drive from Garmisch, through Austria, and onto Italy was spectacular. There were castles, old forts, and vineyards all along the way. There was always something amazing around the next corner and soon we saw the signs that pointed towards our destination, Venice!

We made a quick stop in Padua, Italy and Mom and Dad tried their first real Italian Gelato! We enjoyed a beautiful walk through this old town filled with bicyclists in suits...

We rode the train into Venice and entered into the Italian Renaissance. Venice is, for me, the most charming and unique place we've traveled to so far. There is a ton of architectural beauties, a romantic atmosphere, and the water! I loved traveling around by boat, who knew public transportation could be so fun!

We enjoyed afternoons of touring and nights in St. Mark's Square where there are restaurant orchestras competing for attention and Gondolas abound.

The Bridge of "Sighs" - Where prisoners were brought from the palace to the prison
We enjoyed several days of touring the sights, getting lost in the alleyways, and eating a bunch of great food! One night we did a Wine Bar crawl where we ate and drank with the locals.

My favorite experience was Venice by night. All of the crowds go back to their cruise ships and inland hotels while we stayed and enjoyed the atmosphere, food, and music. This city is by-far the most romantic, enjoyable, and overall wonderful European experience. We were so blessed to enjoy it with Mom and Dad.
